What is the India Global Spirits Awards?
The India Global Spirits Awards (IGSA) is an international spirits competition created specifically for India's evolving spirits market. The competition recognises exceptional spirits through independent blind tasting, combining international technical expertise with the perspective of Indian importers and trade buyers.
How many bottles are required per SKU?
IGSA requires 2 bottles per SKU entered. Please ensure both bottles are securely packaged and shipped according to the official sample shipping instructions provided by IGSA.
Who can enter the competition?
IGSA is designed to identify exceptional spirits from around the world and assess their potential for the Indian market. You do not need to already have an established presence in India to enter. The competition is open to distilleries worldwide producing spirits including whisky, rum, gin, vodka, brandy, tequila and liqueurs.
Are there additional charges beyond the entry fee?
Yes. All shipping, customs, duties, taxes, and related logistics charges for sending samples to India are the responsibility of the producer/entrant and are not included in the entry fee. Once the official shipping window opens, we will connect entrants with our official importer to help coordinate the shipment and facilitate a smoother import and delivery process.
Is judging blind?
Yes. Bottles are coded so judges have no visibility into brand identity.
Why are Indian importers and trade buyers part of the judging panel?
Because producing an exceptional spirit and finding the right market are two different questions. Indian importers and trade buyers understand the local market, consumer preferences, price positioning, category dynamics and what can work commercially in India. Their perspective gives IGSA a valuable Indian market dimension alongside technical spirits expertise.
When should I ship my samples?
Please do not ship your samples until you have received official shipping instructions from IGSA. Detailed shipping information, including the designated receiving address and relevant shipping requirements, will be shared with registered entrants by May 2027.
Does every entry receive a medal?
No. IGSA recognition is based on the results of the judging process. Medals are earned through evaluation and are not guaranteed with entry.

Can I use medal artwork freely?
Yes, you can use appropriate medal award artwork to showcase your win. You will be sent high-resolution artwork to promote your win on social media and on your websites.
